This deep covered casserole dish is perfect for serving large amounts of stew or soup. I use it when I have my family over or when I host my girls club lunches. It safely holds a maximum of 24 cups (or 160 ounces) this maximum amount leaves enough space to accommodate some sloshing without any spilling.
I cook stews and soups on the stove and use this dish to finish simmering or for warming in the oven while finishing details before my guests arrive. It is classy looking enough to serve at the table or on a beautifully decorated buffet. It can be tricky to safely maneuver in and out of an oven if you have it more than half full. My solution is to I put it in a large stainless steel baking pan to increase stability and make oven transfer easy. If you using oven mitts or potholders to move it from counter to table (and there is no condensation) you will be fine. Great price! Exactly what was asked for on my friend's wedding registry, but for half the price. I would recommend call the department store to remove the item from the registry if not purchased from that store asap.
